Project leader: Fabio White Team members: Joseph Paul
Description: A simple game concept that involves collecting colored gems. Each gem represents a different portion of time. The goal is to move the clock from the starting time to the target time. As you collect gems, their amount is added / deducted to the clock face. Once the time is matched, the level is complete.
It is a solid simple game, but maybe lacks some features to keep older players interested. | download ( 9.68 meg ) | Screenshots Total points from all judges, per catergory | How clever the use of theme of "time" is. | 4750 / 7000 | | Gameplay. | 1695 / 3500 | | Originality. | 1095 / 1750 | | Control. | 1025 / 1750 | | Graphics. | 1012.5 / 1750 | | Sound. | 975 / 1750 | | Lastability. | 657.5 / 1750 | | Presentation & Atmosphere | 862.5 / 1750 | | Overall. | 2020 / 3500 | | Total | 14093 / 24500 | Judges comments | citizen | | Time Gems had an original idea using the calculation of time to advance you from level to level. The overal presentation was clean and neat, but lacked any realy eye catching visuals. I think this game could have really gone somewhere with work on gameplay. First of all there were only two different time increments available, 5 and 10 minute. If the author would have added more variable time incriments this would have allowed for more of a puzzle/strategy feel. There were also no enemies or real obstacles in the game to hinder your quest for the time gems and add to the gameplay. The graphics where decent, but didn't feel to fit the gameplay/gamestyle. Maybe in a traditional puzzle format and with some added elements, this game would have been more enjoyable. | | danjo | Atleast the use of time here was not the timers i have been seeing. So it
scored a little better in that department. The game was tediously slow to play
and didnt want me to keep wanting to come back. | | Jimbob | | A simple but different enough concept that is marred by slow movement and little variation in gameplay. | | Rhodesy | The main thing that annoys me about this is the control, i would of liked the use keys for the forwards and backwards movement as my finger starts to hurt holding the mouse down for long periods. Also i felt the game moved to slow.
I liked the fact that time was taken to make it 3D rather than 2D, i always like a nice 3D game, but i think the 3D could of been used more by adding multiply levels to make you search more.
The games use of time was well don't making you search around to change the clock to process through the levels.
Overall i think it was a good idea, but would of been nice to add more challenge to it. | | skn3 | | I can imagine that if I were back at preschool, I would enjoy learning about time by playing this game. Although collecting jems was a tiny bit fiddly due to a bug perhaps, it was entertaining for the time I played it. | | SToPGAP | An interesting game which grew on me as I played it. I like the concept of the time gems and the time reverse was a nice touch.
I liked the way the levels looked and the variety that was put into them as they progressed. At first I thought that the game was a little basic and nothing more than a simple arithmetic game however I was impressed by the design of the levels which cleverly used paths to introduce a combination of puzzle and memory game aspects.
I think the walking was a little too slow given the size of the levels although you were at least given enough time to get around. I also thought that this could have done with a few more features to make the game harder, like perhaps a random time gem and a gem that made other gems move towards or away from you for a while - that could really expand the game play a lot.
A good effort though - I enjoyed playing it :) Good luck! | | TwiTerror | | Time Gems is a very simple game, that has you walking, not running, to collect gems that allow you to move a clock. The objective is simply to set the time on the clock to a 'target' time. This game isn't the most original of games, and the use of time isn't exactly 'clever,' but it is there. Intresting entry that seems to serve more as an educational tool then a game. (; | | | | |
